This particular volume is especially tattered, so pages may be ripped or missing. The digital copy is a direct replication of the physical copy held in the archives.

The document also includes a number of annotations that were written prior to the volume's inclusion in the archival collection. Pages 235-237 of the digital version, include the most extensive version, which is notes pasted into the catalogue. For convenience and the sake of readability a transcript is included below:

  • Page 235: "The subject matter pertains to such lines of thought as are usually condensed in the public schools."
  • Page 236: "In this year lessons we try to cover the rudimentary elements of general knowledge in such a way as to bring out the points economically, considering adaptability in regard to grader and individual pupils."
  • Page 237 [back of 236, appears to be scrap paper from a journal or newspaper, and fragments of a letter]

The bound volume was supposed to include volumes fourteen through twenty-eight (1886-1901). However, it only included fifteen through twenty-eight (1887-1901). Fourteen (1886-1887) has been added to the digital collections separately and can be accessed here.
