- Age first became bored with school
- Age of first use of alcohol or drugs
- Drugs and alcohol in home life
- Drugs and alcohol in home life compared with first use of alcohol and drugs
- Employment status before death row
- Income from employment before death row
- Knowledge of current affairs before incarceration
- "Did you discuss the death penalty with family or friends before coming to death row?"
- "Death penalty–is it a deterrent?"
- Frequency of attorney visits before trial
- Number of death row inmates from single parent homes
- Childhood and adolescent abuse
- "Did you witness a murder as a child or teen?"
- "Did you witness violence as a child by an adult?"
- "Was a family member a victim of murder?"
- "Was your primary male/female influence prone to violence?"
- Head trauma
- "Did your parents vote?"
