George Lindsey Collection

George Lindsey (1928-2012) was born in Fairfield, Alabama on December 17, 1928. He grew up in Jasper, Alabama and attended Florence State Teachers College, now known as UNA, on a football scholarship. In 1962, George Lindsey moved to LA to pursue an acting career. His most memorable role was as Goober Pyle on the Andy Griffith Show (1960-1968). Lindsey donated his collection to UNA's Archives in 2008.

The digital George Lindsey Collection contains memorabilia pertaining to the life of the American actor and comedian, as well as the George Lindsey Television and Film Festival held annually on the UNA campus since 1998.
