Front view of Fort Payne (Alabama) Opera House with four ladies in 1880's costume standing in front of building. Text on verso reads: "Fort Payne Opera House, oldest Alabama theatre of its kind in use today, was built in 1889 during extravagant boom day era. This former cultural center was restored in 1970 by Landmarks of DeKalb County, Inc., and is currently listed in the National Register of Historic Places and the National Register of 19th Century Theatres in America." Postcard is addressed to individual in Florence (Alabama) and postmarked Oct. 11, 1976.
