Description
Construction began in 1947 for a new men's dormitory at Florence State Teachers College. It was designed by the architect firm of Northington, Smith, and Kranert of Florence and could accommodate about 224 boys. It was named Keller Hall for Dr. James A. Keller, president of Florence State Teachers College from 1938 until his tragic death in 1948. In 1973, it was converted to the College of Business and underwent the first set of renovations in 1977. At this time, the first and second floors were renovated. An elevator was placed in the 3-story building in 1987. A new wing was added to the structure in November 1998, becoming the Keller Hall Annex. It was renamed the Raburn Wing soon thereafter for Herbert L. Raburn, a 1954 graduate of F.S.T.C., and his wife Gay. Another renovation started in 2009 to upgrade the building (both inside and out) to be more energy efficient.
