Description

After the structure became a part of Florence State Teachers College, it was known as Rogers Hall and was used as a social center for some time. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1974. In 1975, it was closed due to needing serious renovations. "Project Courtview," a campaign to obtain much-needed funding to help with the costs of renovations began in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In 1981, under the leadership of Dr. Robert Guillot, renovations began on Rogers Hall, including outside weather proofing, renovation of the electrical system, installation of air conditioning and heating systems, construction of offices, and the stripping and refinishing of wood surfaces. Barr and Tune of Florence were the architects that planned these renovations. The heart-shaped garden and sidewalk were actually in the original plans for Courtview in 1855 but were never constructed. This information was discovered by UNA groundskeeper, Elmer Willis Givens. This was also added during the renovations from "Project Courtview."Another restoration project, known as Campaign for Rogers Hall began in 2006.  Rogers Hall is now used as offices for UNA Alumni and Governmental Affairs and the Shoals Industrial Development Authority.
