Description

The home was sold a few times before the University of North Alabama acquired it in 1990. That same year, David F. Brubaker, founder and president of P. Leiner Nutritional Products Corporation donated the purchase price of the recently acquired property as a memorial to his late wife, Coby Stockard Brubaker, a native of Florence. Irvine Place was then named Coby Hall. In 2002, "Campaign for Coby Hall" took place for restoration and renovation of the home, with the Alabama Historical Commission and Coby Hall Advisory Board being consulted. It was rededicated June 3, 2005, as the Simpson House-Irvine Place-Coby Hall.
