Description
Dr. Henry J. Willingham was appointed as the fourteenth president of State Normal School on November 20,1913 and served in this position for 25 years. He was offered another college president position in 1920 but turned it down. He retired on June 1, 1938, and was elected as president emeritus of the institution (Florence State Teachers College) to help provide continued leadership during the remainder of his life. He died December 4, 1948, in Florence, Alabama.
