Description

Dr. Kenneth D. Kitts was born in Waynesville, North Carolina. He received both his Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Arts degree in political science from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. He then received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of South Carolina. He also holds a post graduate certificate from Harvard University's Institute for Educational Management. He taught fulltime for over a decade before moving into the administrative ranks. He worked at Francis Marion University near Florence, South Carolina from 1987-2011. He served as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke from 2011-2015. In November 2014, he was named the twentieth president of the University of North Alabama. His official "first day" was March 2015. He was officially inaugurated August 28, 2015. He currently is still in this position.
