Description
Dr. Robert A. Young was born near Lenoir City in East Tennessee. He was educated first as a physician and later a Methodist minister. He became the fifth president of Florence Wesleyan University in 1861. He was also appointed as pastor of Florence's First Methodist church by the end of 1862.
*The Tennessee Conference convened on October 2, 1861, at the First Baptist Church in Athens, Alabama-listed in the minutes as the new president of the university.*
