Description
Construction on the Stone Lodge was completed by college boys under the supervision of the NYA (National Youth Administration), a New Deal Agency, in October 1939. The upper floor is fashioned after an old English Inn with the cross beams and a huge stone fireplace being typical. The Stone Lodge or Student Lodge served as a venue for student organization meetings and events for years. The Music department used this building for conferences and after school activities, including band practice in the 1950s (known as the Band Lodge during this time period). In 1995, a call was made to renovate the Stone Lodge for a place for students to go and hang out besides the GUC (it would stay open late nights) Remodeling occurred through the year and on January 24, 1996, Leo's opened in the Stone Lodge. Now it is utilized as a classroom, meeting room, and study room.
