PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the University of North Alabama Basketball Tean has won the State's first national basketball championship, and
WHEREAS, the Lions won the NCAA Division II Championship with a 64-50 decision over Wisconsin-Green Bay, and
WHEREAS, UNA Finished the 1978-79 season with a 22-9 record, and
WHEREAS, over 500 UNA fans were present to celebrate with the Lions their long to be remembered victory.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, J. Hollie Allen, Mayor of the City of Florence, Alabama, proclaim Friday, March 23, 1979, as
UNA BASKETBALL DAY
In the City of Florence, Alabama, and urge all citizens in this area to join in congratulating this basketball team, its coaches and managers upon a championship that has brought national honor to the University of North Alabama,
IN WITHESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Florence, Alabama to be affixed, this the 20th day of March 1979.
